2013 Audi Sport Calendar

As 2012 draws to a close Audi Sport is already very busy gearing up for the 2013 motorsport season. Last year Audi Sport revealed a beautiful Calendar for 2012. During this year they hinted at another calendar being released for 2013 which would again portray the motorsport highlights from the previous season. Today, just four days from the end of 2012, Audi Sport has officially revealed their 2013 calendar, and it is another masterpiece. It is produced with twelve beautiful pictures each featuring different scenes from Audi’s Le Mans, DTM and customer racing programs.

Gallery: Audi R18 at Audi of America headquarters

Audi of America has welcomed a very special car at their headquarters, an Audi R18 TDI. The new car replaces the Audi R10 TDI which has been on display in America in recent years. This specific R18 is fitted 2011 Audi R18 TDI bodywork (similar to that which appeared at the first Sebring test during 2011). The car is however wearing the livery of the #3 Audi R18 ultra TDI powered car that raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours this year. The car at Le Mans was driven by Romain Dumas, Loic Duval and Marc Gene and finished fifth overall in the end. The Audi R18 ultra debuted at the 6 Hours of Spa and was retired from competition after the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo when Audi Sport Team Joest opted for a pair of R18 e-tron quattros to fight the fast Toyota Racing TS030 Hybrid.

Wallpaper: Audi vs Toyota at Le Mans

Audi won the Le Mans 24 Hours this year for the eleventh time. The Ingolstadt brand was able to achieve a fantastic 1-2-3 victory and even better by scoring a first overall win for a Hybrid car at La Sarthe. The race may have looked like an easy one for the Joest Racing team, however the first stages of the race saw titanic battles with the new comers from Toyota. The TS030 proved to be as fast as the R18 e-tron quattros and ultras.

Every great rivalry brings great photos as well. Here is a great wallpaper from our friend Laurent Chauveau and the French based 86400.fr sportscar website. The #3 Audi R18 ultra battling neck to neck with one of the factory Toyotas.

Video: A closer look at the Audi R18 e-tron quattro

Audi claimed their eleventh overall Le Mans victory during 2012, and their first with the hybrid technology concept. The two Audi R18 e-tron quattros finished 1-2 at Le Mans and wrote a new chapter in the history books. Here is a great video from Audi featuring a brief look into the history of quattro in motorsport and the 2012 race cars. The video was made as a preview to Le Mans 2012 and has some beautiful footage, enjoy.

In recent years Audi has always produced a short video documenting the Le Mans 24 Hour races. They are normally released a few months after the race in June, and they are always well received. These online videos started in 2009 and each year since then we have seen the annual addition of another new video. Audi also published similar videos in previous years which included 2006 and 2008. The 2012 video was published yesterday and once again it is an exciting production featuring the race this year. With the arrival of the new video we thought it would be a good idea to look back on all the previous videos. We have included all the Audi Le Mans short feature films below, they are all well worth watching again.

Video: An electrifying victory - The 24 hours of Le Mans 2012

Le Mans 2012 marked Audi’s eleventh overall victory and the first ever with hybrid technology. With four cars on track they were the favourites for the race and finished 1-2-3. Audi has just released this new video featuring the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours. It is six action packed minutes and is well worth the watch, enjoy:
